Belarusian citizen Vladimir Vitikov, who last summer attacked a child at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, has been sent for compulsory treatment by the court, Kommersant reports.
"To appoint Vitikov compulsory measures of a medical nature associated with placement in a closed-type psychiatric hospital with intensive supervision," the court said.
In June 2025, a video appeared in the media showing a man in the airport arrivals area grabbing a small child and throwing him to the floor with great force. Vitikov was arrested after the incident. During the trial, he pleaded guilty and said that he was previously registered with a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
The investigation found that the man was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The injured boy was discharged from the hospital in July. A criminal case was opened against Vitikov for attempted murder committed in a state of insanity.
