Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez has unveiled a draft general amnesty law that covers the period from 1999 until today.

The the press office of Venezuela's acting president reported.

Rodriguez said the future law should help "heal the wounds" caused by years of political confrontation, violence and extremism, and help restore justice and social peace in Venezuela.

She instructed the Commission for Judicial Reform and the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace to submit the bill to the National Assembly as soon as possible and called on deputies to fully contribute to the process.

At the same time, the amnesty will not apply to those convicted of murder, drug trafficking, corruption crimes and serious human rights violations - this is explicitly provided for by the Venezuelan Constitution.
