Personal Bankruptcies In Russia Are Breaking Records

Russians are left without money en masse.

More than 500 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation have been recognized as insolvent.

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine reported this as reported.

At the end of 2025, the Sverdlovsk region was among the five regions with the highest number of bankruptcies among individuals and individual entrepreneurs. During the year, the number of reports on judicial realization of property in the region increased by almost 28%.

In absolute terms, the Sverdlovsk region surpassed St. Petersburg, where more than 20 thousand bankrupts were recorded.

The anti-rating also traditionally includes Moscow, Moscow Region and Krasnodar Territory - regions with a high level of indebtedness of the population.

In the country as a whole, the situation is even worse: in 2025, judicial bankruptcies among individuals increased by more than 31% and reached almost 568 thousand cases.

The main reasons for the growth of bankruptcies are called the fall in real incomes, the rise in the cost of living and excessive debts of households.

"Formal 'economic stability', which is declared by the Russian authorities, has no confirmation in the real financial condition of citizens," - say the SVRU.

And more than 97% of cases are initiated by debtors themselves, in fact recognizing their own inability to pay debts. This is evidence of a systemic crisis, which has no signs of a quick solution.
