Macron Had To Justify Himself To Zelensky

France has released a previously detained Russian "shadow fleet" tanker. In a telephone conversation on January 29, French President Emmanuel Macron told his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky that this had to be done because of French legal requirements.

As European Pravda writes, Zelensky told this at a meeting with journalists in Kiev.

According to the Ukrainian president, Macron has promised to amend French legislation to keep such tankers under arrest in the future.

Zelensky called on other European countries to follow France's example and stop tankers of the Russian "shadow fleet."

"This is a question for all states. At least to the northern, maritime states that have influence over this. That is, tankers with Russian oil should be stopped and that you should keep it, not stop it for a while and let it go," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelensky said the confiscation of "shadow fleet" tankers could become an important tool for bringing peace closer.
