CBS News sources confirmed the information.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured by the elite U.S. special forces unit Delta Force.
CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs wrote about this in her X on January 3.
"Maduro was captured by Delta Force, an elite special forces unit of the U.S. Army, sources tell me," she wrote.
Nicolas Maduro served as president of Venezuela for more than 12 years - since March 5, 2013, following the death of dictator Ugo Chavez.
On the night of January 3, loud explosions erupted in Caracas, airplanes and columns of smoke were spotted over the Venezuelan capital, and partial de-energization of the city was reported.
U.S. President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes against targets in Venezuela, including military installations, CBS News journalist Jennifer Jacobs reported, citing U.S. officials.
Trump confirmed the military operation against Venezuela and said Maduro, along with his wife, had been captured and flown out of the country. He said the operation was carried out in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement agencies.
