There are up to 400 Russian specialists in the country.
The state corporation Rosatom together with the Russian Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry is ready to evacuate up to 400 Russian specialists from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran if necessary. This was announced by the head of the state corporation Alexei Likhachev, reports Interfax. The decision was dictated by the threat of new US military strikes on Iran.
"We keep our hand on the pulse and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense we will be ready to carry out evacuation measures," Likhachev said, commenting on the aggravation of the situation around Iran. At the same time, he emphasized that there are no specific decisions at the moment.
The head of Rosatom also noted that the territory of the Bushehr nuclear power plant remained safe during previous US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities in the summer of 2025. "I can tell you responsibly that during the so-called summer conflict, the territory of the Bushehr plant was the safest place in Iran," Likhachev said.
The threat of new strikes came amid US media reports that the administration of US President Donald Trump is considering a large-scale military operation.
