Media: Iranian Dry Cargo Ship Sinking Near Dagestan Could Be Carrying Weapons For Russia

There is no way to save the ship, the water is flooding the hold.

In the waters of the Caspian Sea an Iranian dry cargo ship Caspian Shiva, heading to the commercial seaport of Makhachkala, is experiencing an emergency situation.

A source from MNS reports this.

The vessel reportedly suffered a breach of unknown origin, after which it ran aground. Water began to actively enter the engine room and hold. There are 10 crew members on board, preliminary, there are no casualties.

Sources note that Iran and Russia are systematically using the Caspian Sea as a sea corridor transporting weapons, ammunition and new drones for war with Ukraine.

Salvage of the vessel is still impossible

The situation is complicated by weather conditions. In the Caspian Sea there are strong waves: the height of waves reaches two meters, because of which it is impossible to start a full-fledged rescue operation.

Few tugs of Rosmorport are on standby, but they can not approach the ship yet. In fact, the crew remains in the risk zone, while the vessel itself continues to take on water.

Too many coincidences

Officially the cause of the breach is not called. However, the ship's route itself is attracting attention. Iran regularly uses the Caspian Sea for deliveries to Russia, including equipment, components and, according to some sources, weapons and drones.

With this background, the version about the "unknown origin" of the damage looks, to put it mildly, vague, especially given the fact that Russian ports on the Caspian Sea have recently been increasingly featured in the logistics of military supplies.
