The deal must be approved by the U.S. Treasury Department.
The American investment fund Carlyle, which is among the top 2000 largest companies in the world, is acquiring foreign assets of Lukoil, which has fallen under U.S. sanctions. Only the assets of the Russians in Kazakhstan will not be included in the perimeter of the deal. But the largest private network of filling stations in Belarus and a share in the additive plant in Novopolotsk, apparently, will become American.
American investment company Carlyle may become the buyer of Lukoil's foreign assets, writes RBC. The perimeter of the potential transaction does not include assets in Kazakhstan, they will remain in the ownership of the group. To complete the sale will require approval of regulators, including the U.S. Treasury Department.
One of the world's largest investment groups Carlyle Group, whose revenue at the end of 2024 amounted to 5.3 billion dollars, thus claims to Lukoil's oil and gas production projects in 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Mexico, UAE, Congo), three refineries (in Romania, Bulgaria, Netherlands), networks of gas stations and enterprises producing oils, lubricants and other technical liquids.
These include the subsidiary wholesale and retail company Lukoil-Belarus, which includes over 80 filling stations, oil depots and gas filling stations, and a stake in the fuel additives plant EddyTech in Novopolotsk.
