The blackout in Murmansk and Severomorsk will have widespread consequences.
As Moscow strikes Ukraine's power grid, Russian cities are in blackout. In northern Russia, the cities of Murmansk and Severomorsk, where the Russian Northern Fleet is based, have been plunged into darkness.
The cause of the blackout in Russian communities has been weather conditions and the wear and tear of equipment that has not been repaired for decades. Journalist and international expert Alexander Demchenko told 24 Kanal what the consequences could be due to the lack of electricity.
What could happen to Russia's Northern Fleet?
Demchenko recalled that Severomorsk is home to the main base of Russia's Northern Fleet.
"Not many people know this, but ships cannot shut down their engines in severe frosts. If there is not enough power and the ship's engine freezes, then you can consider that there is no ship. This is the end of the fleet," the international expert emphasized.
That is why, according to him, if in subzero temperatures there is no light, there is no capacity for ships to work and there is no fuel and everything else, then there is a collapse of the fleet.
"Vladimir Putin's fleet, if he doesn't remove Murmansk region governor Andrei Chibis or throw money there, may soon simply disappear live," Alexander Demchenko suggested.
So now the situation is that Putin has disaster upon disaster, accident upon accident, and he, as the journalist noted, instead of dealing with his own people, affairs, closing his own holes, is mercilessly bombing the Ukrainian state.
