What They Hide About Lukashenko's Meetings With Exotic Guests

Not everything is as clean as the regime is trying to show.

In 2025, Lukashenko held several exotic meetings and visits, the content of which was explained rather vaguely by the state propaganda. That suggested that all was not clear, writes "Salidarnasts".

Myanmar

Last year, Lukashenko invested heavily in relations with this poor country ruled by non-poor rulers.

The head of Myanmar's military junta, Min Aung Hline, flew to Minsk twice in a year (!): in March for a separate full-fledged visit, and in June he dropped by for the EAEU summit. Lukashenko paid a visit to Myanmar in late November (pictured).

This activity in relations seemed surprising, given the fact that Myanmar is mired in poverty amid civil war and is not distinguished by economic development.

But an investigation by the Justice For Myanmar human rights initiative explains a lot: Belarus supplies Myanmar with air defense systems and trains employees of the defense industry.

Libya

In February, the commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army Califa Belkasim Haftar (pictured), who controls one part of the country where the civil war is raging, visited Minsk.

In addition to Lukashenko, the meeting with him was attended by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and KGB chief Ivan Tertel.

And in October, Lukashenko already hosted Haftar's son, Saddam Khalifa, deputy commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army.

Libyan media wrote that arms supplies were discussed.

Indonesia

In June, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto unexpectedly flew to Minsk. He talked with Lukashenko in his house for almost three hours. The press service of the ruler of Belarus did not explain what exactly the politicians discussed.

But the French publication Intelligence Online wrote about it: the visit was connected with the desire to buy weapons in Belarus after it failed to do so in France.

Also unexpectedly, in December, Dmitry Lukashenko showed up in Indonesia. The ruler's son, who has no positions in the government, allegedly discussed agriculture and investments there...

Officially, the ruler of Belarus did not say a word about arms trade with these states. However, all the available information hints that this is what Lukashenko was actively engaged in in 2025.

Lukashenko has long been called "an experienced arms dealer". But what the real scale of his regime's military cooperation with other countries is today remains only a guess.
