Trump: US Has Formed A Bigger Armada Near Iran Than Venezuela Had

The U.S. president said Tehran is already offering talks.
US President Donald Trump said the situation with Iran is "unstable" because it has sent a "big armada" to the region. According to him, it is bigger than the one the states previously sent to the shores of Venezuela.
Trump said this on Monday, January 26, in an interview with Axios. At the same time, he believes Tehran does want an agreement.
"We have a big armada near Iran. Bigger than Venezuela," Trump said.
He declined to discuss the options on Iran offered to him by his national security team or the one he believes is best. At the same time, the American president said diplomacy remains an option.
"They want to make an agreement. I know that. They've called repeatedly. They want to talk," the Republican said.
It is known that in addition to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, the states have sent more F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, refueling planes and additional air defense systems to the region.
US strike vs agreement
According to Axios, Trump nearly ordered a strike on regime targets in Iran earlier this month over the killing of thousands of protesters. But he delayed the decision while shifting military resources to the region.
White House officials say an attack is still being considered, although the protests have largely been quelled.
Sources say Trump has not yet made a final decision. He is likely to hold further consultations this week and be presented with other options for military action.
As for an agreement, U.S. officials say it should include removing all enriched uranium from Iran anyway, limiting the long-range missile arsenal, changing Iran's policy of supporting proxies in the region and banning independent uranium enrichment in the country.
The Iranians have said they are willing to negotiate but have expressed no willingness to accept the terms.
