The seven-time Formula One champion suffered a severe head injury in the French Alps in 2013.
Seven-time Formula 1 motor racing champion Michael Schumacher is no longer bedridden after suffering a severe head injury. The 57-year-old German athlete can sit in a wheelchair, but is unable to walk. This British edition Daily Mail writes on Monday, January 26, citing informed interlocutors who wished to remain anonymous.
Schumacher is still being cared for by his wife Corinna. In addition, the former auto racer is under 24-hour supervision by a team of nurses and therapists.
Daily Mail dispelled rumors of "locked-in man" syndrome, in which a person retains consciousness and sensitivity but is unable to respond to external stimuli in any way other than blinking. "There is a feeling that he understands some of what is going on around him, but probably not everything," explained one of the publication's sources.
Michael Schumacher is considered one of the best Formula One drivers in history. He drove for Jordan, Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes for a total of 19 years and set a number of records in this world championship.
In 2012, Schumacher ended his sporting career, and in late 2013, he suffered a severe head injury in an accident at a ski resort in the French Alps. Since then, he has not appeared in public. Schumacher's family is careful to respect his privacy.
