Kiev Residents Pitch Tents In Apartments

People live without light and heat, but they do not lose hope.
Residents of Kiev build bonfires in the street and put up tents in their apartments. In the evenings, when the Ukrainian capital plunges into darkness, the atmosphere in the courtyards resembles Minsk 2020. People warm themselves with hot tea cooked on the fire, sing songs and believe that good will win, writes "Radio Racyja".
A Belarusian and former political prisoner Irina Schastnaya, who has been in Kiev since the beginning of the blackout, tells the story:
- I was traveling with a cab driver, of course, he and his wife sent their children to their aunt in the suburbs of Kiev, because there is light there. But they stayed in their Kiev apartment and put a tent in the middle of the room - that's how they live. People support each other and organize parties. Apparently, the Russian authorities were counting on the blackout to anger people, but it turned out the other way around - it united Ukrainians even more.
We recall that as of January 23, about 2,600 houses in Kiev remain without heat supply, according to the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko. According to him, over the past day heat was returned to almost 600 houses, most of which are located on the left bank of the capital.
