The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women has registered a complaint of pressure against political prisoner Ielena Lazarchik. The Belarusian authorities were demanded to take urgent measures to protect her.
The human rights organization Respect-Protect-Fulfill reported that the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women registered their complaint of discrimination against political prisoner Elena Lazarchik:
"The Committee requested to provide access to medical care in a medical facility outside the prison, to ensure the woman's immediate access to a lawyer and proper conditions of detention. She was sentenced to eight years for allegedly taking part in protests, inciting hatred, participation in an extremist formation and insulting Lukashenka.
In October 2025, it became known that the activist was added a year and a half to her sentence for allegedly malicious disobedience to the demands of the prison administration.
While behind bars, Lazarchik is sent to a punitive isolation cell and then to a detention center. The woman has serious health problems.
