The US has begun moving an aircraft carrier strike group from the South China Sea to the area of responsibility of the US Central Command in the Middle East, NewsNation reported, citing its own sources.
The piece said that amid heightened tensions between the administration of US President Donald Trump and the Iranian regime, the Pentagon is moving an aircraft carrier strike group from the South China Sea to the US Central Command area of responsibility, which includes the Middle East.
The reporters' interlocutor said the aircraft carrier strike group in question is the Abraham Lincoln, which also includes several other warships and at least one attack submarine.
The process is expected to last about a week.
On January 14, Reuters quoted sources as saying that U.S. intervention in Iran is likely and could happen within 24 hours.
