Russia Attacked Ukraine For The First Time With New Weapons

Russian occupants have used the Geran-5 attack UAV for the first time. With this drone, the enemy attacked Ukraine in early 2026. This was reported in the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GDI MO).

It is known that the drone is about 6 meters long and has a wingspan of up to 5.5 meters.

"Unlike previous modifications of the Geran line, the device is made according to the normal aerodynamic scheme. At the same time, most of the key nodes and components are unified with other samples of this series," the GUR noted.

In particular, the enemy used a 12-channel satellite navigation system "Kometa", a tracker based on a Raspberry microcomputer and 3G/4G modems. It is also established the use of a jet engine Telefly - such as the enemy uses on the UAV "Geran-3", but with greater thrust.

The weight of the combat part of the attack UAV "Geran-5" is about 90 kg. The claimed range is about 1,000 kilometers.

The intelligence noted that the Russians' new strike drone is quite similar to Iran's Karrar drone.
