Lithuania's plans to build a military range in Kapčemestis
The Lithuanian State Defense Council announced plans to build a military range in Kapčemestis for a brigade-sized unit at the end of December 2025. Presidential Advisor Deividas Matuļėnis emphasized that the protection of the Suvalki Corridor will receive special attention from Lithuania, Poland and NATO, Lithuanian media company LRT reported.
The Suvalki Corridor is an area on the border between Lithuania, Poland, Belarus and Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. Its length is less than 100 kilometers, but it has an important strategic significance as connecting Lithuania with the main territory of the European Union.
