The plan is aimed at "prosperity" and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
Vladimir Zelensky and Donald Trump plan to sign an $800 billion agreement on Ukraine's "prosperity" and post-war reconstruction at a meeting of world leaders in Davos. This is according to The Telegraph, citing its sources.
According to the publication's interlocutors, the Ukrainian president was hoping to travel to the White House next week to finalize both an economic prosperity plan and an agreement on post-war security guarantees.
"However, his European supporters from a "coalition of the willing" dissuaded him from the trip and suggested the World Economic Forum as a more suitable alternative to meet with Trump. The plan, officials said, was to use the meeting to finalize an economic agreement, a key chapter of the proposal to end the war with Russia," the article said.
It is noted that EU officials involved in the peace talks urged Zielenski to take his time with the U.S. president because they believe he currently supports their desire to end the war on terms favorable to Kiev.
The Prosperity Plan aims to raise about $800 billion over ten Steve Witkoff, Trump's peace envoy, hailed the agreement as a crucial part of the overall cease-fire package he has been pursuing for the past several months.
"However, little is known about the agreement and, unlike the 20-point peace plan, it has not been made public," The Telegraph emphasizes.
It is unclear whether the Davos agreement, which paves the way for a "provisioning force" led by Britain and France, will be signed. However, European sources have noted a clear change in relations with the White House, with one senior official calling Witkoff a "changed man," referring to previous accusations of his pro-Russian views.
Despite improved relations between Washington, European capitals and Kiev, insiders remain unconvinced of Vladimir Putin's willingness to end the invasion.
