Moscow Is Losing Uzbekistan

Tashkent is ramping up its partnership with Washington.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the expansion of strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The press service of the Uzbek head of state reported.
The main focus was on practical steps to develop Uzbek-US relations. The leaders emphasized the importance of increasing mutual trade and promoting new joint projects.
According to Tashkent, the portfolio of future initiatives includes civil aviation, energy, electrical engineering, agriculture, digital technologies, mining and processing of critical mineral resources, as well as education and innovation.
Security cooperation, including the fight against terrorism, extremism and illegal migration, was highlighted.
Mirziyoyev invited Trump on an official visit to Uzbekistan, emphasizing Tashkent's readiness to further strengthen the dialogue.
The two presidents also discussed regional policy issues, focusing on the C5+1 format, which brings together the US and Central Asian countries.
According to experts, Washington is seeking to strengthen its presence in the region, while Russia is losing ground and influence.
According to official data, bilateral trade turnover is showing steady growth: by the end of 2024, it increased by 15% and reached $882 million.
Economists note that the United States is becoming an increasingly important partner for Uzbekistan, while dependence on Russian markets is decreasing.
