For another 90 days.
A buffer zone imposed by Poland on its border with Belarus is being extended, the press service of the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration said on Friday.
"The Minister of Interior and Administration has extended the buffer zone on the Polish-Belarusian border for another three months.... The prescriptions will be valid from September 6 to December 4," the report said.
"Maintaining the buffer zone is necessary due to growing migration pressure from Belarus. The Polish-Belarusian border, whose tightness is approaching 98%, is crucial for the security of Poland and the entire European Union," said Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwinski, quoted by the agency's press service.
"In recent months, the number of attempts to illegally cross the border with Belarus has almost doubled compared to last year. From June to August 2025, the Border Guard Service recorded almost 13,800 such cases compared to 7,500 for the same period last year, which means an increase of 83%," said the Polish Interior Ministry.
