Details.

European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova met with European Council President Antonio Costa in Uzhgorod on September 5, the day on which President Vladimir Zelensky is scheduled to meet with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo there.

European Pravda writes about it.

September 5, António Costa arrived in Uzhgorod, where he was met by Maternova.

"Many important leaders are gathering in Uzhgorod. It will be very lively here today. I am delighted to welcome European Council President António Costa to Transcarpathia," said the EU Ambassador to Ukraine.

She noted that together with President Zelensky, they will join national, regional and local leaders at the Congress of Regional Authorities to celebrate the resilience of Ukrainian communities and work towards their recovery and future in the EU.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky has already met with Kosta.

"I would like to thank Mr. President for being here today supporting Ukraine. We know about your busy schedule, but you have found time to support Ukraine, and thank you for coming to this very region," Zelensky said.

According to reports, energy infrastructure will be one of the main issues on the agenda of the meeting between the Slovak Prime Minister and Zelensky in Uzhgorod.

It should be noted that Robert Fitzo and Vladimir Zelensky have not held bilateral meetings since the Slovak prime minister returned to office in 2023.

It is known that Hungary and Slovakia continue to receive Russian oil, in particular through the Druzhba oil pipeline, against which Ukraine has recently carried out a number of attacks. The foreign ministers of Slovakia and Hungary have complained to the European Commission over the attacks.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban even decided to write a letter to Trump over Ukraine's attack on the Druzhba pipeline, and the latter allegedly replied that he was angry.

And on September 4, U.S. President Donald Trump told European leaders that Europe should stop buying Russian oil, which he said was helping Moscow finance its war against Ukraine.
