Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur Giorgio Armani has died, newspaper La Repubblica reported, citing a statement from Armani. The fashion designer was 91 years old.
"It is with deep sorrow that the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder and tireless driving force Giorgio Armani," the company said in a statement.
The Armani Group said the fashion designer died surrounded by his loved ones. The reasons for Armani's death were not given.
Armani was born in 1934 in Italy. He started his career as a window dresser in a department store. Then he worked as a designer in the fashion house Nino Cerruti. In 1975, he founded the Giorgio Armani brand, which became a symbol of Italian elegance and minimalism.
Over the years, Armani created a vision that extended from fashion to every aspect of life, anticipating the times with extraordinary clarity and concreteness, as his company's employees say. Armani Funeral
The fashion designer's funeral will be held privately. And the chapel will be open from September 6 to 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Milan, at Via Bergognone 59, in Armani/Teatro.
