The emergency was due to an "abnormal situation in the air".

A serviceman, a cadet of the Military Academy, died at one of the Belarusian firing ranges "due to an abnormal situation," reported in the Ministry of Defense.

"The Ministry of Defense has launched an investigation into the death of a serviceman of the armed forces. According to preliminary information, due to an abnormal situation in the air during landing from an An-2 airplane at one of the training grounds, the serviceman received an injury incompatible with life," the report said.

The details of the incident are not specified. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified by a commission of the Defense Ministry together with the Investigative Committee. The deputy defense minister visited the scene.

The serviceman was a third-year student at one of the faculties of the Military Academy, "he was positively characterized in his service and studies, had repeated experience of landing".
