Romanian Foreign Minister At UN General Assembly Condemns Russian Interference In Moldovan Parliamentary Elections

Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsoiu addressed the UN General Assembly on September 28, condemning the "malicious external interference organized by the Russian Federation on an unprecedented scale" in Moldova's parliamentary elections. The minister also expressed solidarity with Moldova, reports digi24.ro.

In her speech at the UN General Assembly, Tsoiu expressed alarm at the situation in Moldova, where parliamentary elections are being held today.

"We condemned the disinformation campaign and the malicious external interference organized by the Russian Federation on an unprecedented scale with the explicit aim of undermining the sovereign right of Moldovan citizens to determine their own destiny," she stressed, adding that Romania supports Moldova and its sovereignty.

Today, September 28, Moldova is holding parliamentary elections. There are 23 electoral competitors in the race: 15 parties, 4 electoral blocs and 4 independent candidates. Elections will be recognized as valid if at least 30% of voters take part in them. To get into parliament, parties need at least 5%, blocs - 7%, independent candidates - 2%.
