The country is holding crucial parliamentary elections.
Moldova's electoral infrastructure was hit by several cyberattacks over Saturday and Sunday, causing several thousand Moldovan websites to stop working.
As "European Pravda" reports, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said on Sunday.
Recean said that the infrastructure related to Moldova's electoral process - in particular the Central Electoral Commission and several polling stations abroad - has been hit by "several cyberattack attempts."
"All attacks were detected and neutralized in real time, without affecting the electoral process," he added.
The Moldovan prime minister said that the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service (STICS) was forced to block the platform host.md due to a massive cyberattack, causing "about 4,000 websites to be down.
"The attacks are organized simultaneously in order to overload the STISC network, which serves the CEC and other electoral infrastructure," Recean said.
The September 28 parliamentary elections in Moldova are considered crucial for the country's future.
