Sweden And Finland Have Formed A Strike Brigade On The Border With Russia

The fighters are experienced in combat operations in harsh winter conditions.

Sweden and Finland have jointly created a new 4,000-5,000-strong strike brigade near Finnish Lapland.

It is reported by Iltalehti.

The new formation is based on the Swedish mechanized Norrbotten Brigade, which has experience in fighting in harsh winter conditions. It consists of five battalions and support units.

To speed up the brigade's introduction into combat readiness, the weapons were placed in Lapland in advance. In particular, Swedish Archer self-propelled howitzers, which can hit targets up to 50 kilometers away.

In the event of an armed conflict, the new brigade will receive air support - it will be covered by British Eurofighter and F-35 fighters, as well as attack helicopters Apache.

Joint Force with Finland

The new NATO brigade will be joined by 5,000 to 7,000 Finnish troops on a permanent basis.

Together, these forces match the number of Russian units deployed in the northern direction.
