An expert answered why the Pentagon is urgently gathering hundreds of generals for a closed-door meeting.

The Pentagon is urgently gathering hundreds of top U.S. generals and officers for a closed-door meeting in Virginia. The reasons for the decision have not yet been officially disclosed, but it coincided with Russia's increasing provocations against NATO countries - from Poland and Estonia to Denmark and the Baltic Sea.

Why did U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gather hundreds of generals for an emergency meeting? This is the question Charter97.org asked Ukrainian political-military columnist for the group "Information Resistance" Alexander Kovalenko:

- I don't think it has to do specifically with NATO countries in Europe or Ukraine.

This is most likely due to the fact that the United States is now conducting an operation against drug trafficking in the area of Venezuela. In connection with the subsequent more active actions of the US Navy strike group, which is now concentrated off the coast of Venezuela, and this meeting may be related. We should not be focused on Europe right now.

It is the interest of the United States in the Venezuela area to remove Nicolas Maduro and his entourage from leadership positions. I think decisions are now being made in Washington regarding a forceful operation to support internal protest in Venezuela, to remove Nicolas Maduro from power, and to arrest him.
