On September 25, political prisoner and Nobel laureate Ales Belyatsky turns 63. For the fifth time in a row he will celebrate his birthday behind bars.

In the summer, according to Radye Svaboda, Bialiatski was taken to the prison hospital in Koliadichi near Minsk for surgery. It is known that the operation was on his legs, but it's not known exactly what kind of operation.

"And it seems that the operation went well, otherwise he wouldn't have been returned to the colony so quickly. And he was returned, he is back in the detachment. But whether Ales is again working at woodworking, or somewhere else, is unknown," the publication reports.

The human rights activist Ales Bialiatski was arrested in July 2021 and sentenced to 10 years. He is serving his sentence in colony No. 9 in Horki, Mahiliou region.
