He said the protracted war "makes Russia look bad."

U.S. President Donald Trump admitted at the United Nations General Assembly on Sept. 23 that he thought Russia's war against Ukraine was the easiest to resolve because of his good relationship with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The full YouTube video of the speech was released by DW.

"I thought one of the seven wars I would stop would be this war. I thought it would be the easiest because I've always had a good relationship with President Putin. I thought it would be the easiest to do. But in war, you never know what's going to happen. There are always a lot of surprises and surprises - both good and bad," the White House chief said.

He said that no one expected the Russian-Ukrainian war to last so long.

"Everyone thought that Russia would win this war in three days, but it didn't happen that way. It was supposed to be a quick little clash. But it didn't turn out that way. This makes Russia look bad. Regardless of what happens next, it was supposed to be a few days, definitely less than a week. And they've been at war for three and a half years and have killed between 5,000 and 7,000 soldiers on both sides. Every week 5,000 to 7,000 young people are killed, in cities where they shoot missiles and drop bombs, the casualties are less," said the US president.

Trump also once again emphasized that this war would not have happened if he were president.
