In protest against war and evil.

In Russia's Samara region, Rosgvardiya officers detained a family - a 33-year-old son and a 55-year-old father - while trying to blow up a bridge over a river, The Moscow Times reported.

The FSB attributed to them the explosion of a gas pipeline in the Syzran district in 2023, two railroad bridges over the Chapaevka and Samara rivers in 2024, and involvement in the manufacture of a homemade explosive device used to blow up a transformer substation of the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in 2023.

The son tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself several times in the stomach with a knife when he was detained. After his detention, he said he carried out the attacks pro bono because of his opposition to the war in Ukraine and involved his father in his activities.

"SWO is a black day for me. It's just something that shouldn't have happened," one of the men says in a video circulated by the FSB.

"I'm for the people... I'm against evil," he clarified when asked why he tried to commit suicide when detained.

When asked "who is inflicting evil?" the detainee replied, "The system."

A criminal case has been opened against the detainees under articles on illegal trafficking of explosives. The issue of additional charges of sabotage, treason and participation in a terrorist organization is being decided. The suspects face up to life imprisonment.
