Major Air Force Exercises Kick Off In Finland

The goal is to practice early warning and interception of UAVs and other threats over the eastern Baltic.

A major air force exercise began in Finland on Monday, September 22, Yle reports.

The Finnish Air Force said about 50 aircraft and more than 1,000 troops will take part in the maneuvers, which will last until Friday.

The exercise also involves units from Sweden and Denmark.

In addition to the main airbases, the airports of Oulu, Vaasa and Kokkola-Pietarsaari, as well as the Kallaks base in Sweden, will be used.

The main area of the exercise covers the area between Rovaniemi, Kajaani, Kuopio, Jyväskylä and Vaasa, and extends over the Gulf of Bothnia.

In addition to aircraft noise, there may be light effects, loud noises and interference with meteor radars, the Finnish Air Force warned.
