Before Maduro's YouTube account became inaccessible, it had more than 200,000 subscribers. It was used to publish addresses by the Venezuelan president, as well as excerpts from his weekly show on Venezuelan state television.

YouTube's official website says in its rules that the platform removes accounts that engage in "repeated violations of community rules," including posting misinformation, hate speech and content that "interferes with democratic processes."
