The Kremlin has begun a new phase of provocations.

French President Emmanuel Macron called the flight of Russian warplanes in Estonian airspace a dangerous provocation.

This is according to Macron's note in X and a statement by the French Foreign Ministry.

"I strongly condemn the incursion of Russian planes into Estonia. It represents a new stage in a series of provocations and irresponsible actions by Russia," the French president wrote.

He assured that security measures will be taken in response to these repeated violations.

"France condemns with the greatest determination this dangerous and irresponsible incursion into the airspace of a European Union member state and NATO ally, which represents a new provocation by Russia and is a flagrant violation of international law," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry pointed out that this incursion into Estonia is unprecedented in more than 20 years.

"France has directly contributed to Estonia's security through the deployment of military forces in the country since 2017, in particular through the deployment of a French battalion. Now this battalion participates in multinational exercises together with other allies, thus making a direct contribution to the defense of European territory," the French Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed.

We recall that on September 19, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets flew into Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland without permission, remaining there for 12 minutes.

European Union diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas condemned the violation of Estonian airspace by three Russian fighter jets.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on EU leaders to approve the 19th package of sanctions against Russia as soon as possible.

Estonia has asked NATO for advice over the incident.
