The US president said he had "learned some interesting things".

US President Donald Trump said he has learned "interesting things" about Russia's war against Ukraine. He said this during a meeting with reporters in the Oval Office of the White House on Tuesday, September 2.

"I've learned some interesting things and I think you're going to learn about them over the next few days," Trump said.

He did not specify what exactly he was talking about.

The American leader was also asked about possible consequences if a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not announced.

"Yes, there will be. We'll see what they will do and what will happen. I'm watching this very closely. Last week they lost 7,000 [soldiers]...for no reason. I want that to end," Trump emphasized.

He added that he had a "very good" meeting with Putin last week.

"We'll see if something comes out of it. If not, we'll change our approach," the White House chief said.

Trump earlier said he was "very disappointed" with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and promised a solution "to make people live."
