Russia has been given the opportunity to export live reindeer and their antlers to China. According to the Kremlin, the relevant protocols were signed by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation and China's General Administration of Customs during Vladimir Putin's visit to Beijing.

In China, deer tails are used to make preparations for kidney disease, placenta is the main ingredient in potency soup, and young antlers are used in the creation of drugs that slow aging and increase performance.

The Times of England reported earlier that alternative medicine has piqued Putin's interest, and the 72-year-old president allegedly regularly takes baths with blood extract from Siberian deer antlers. China's leader Xi Jinping is not young either, and Putin is only eight months older than him. The average life expectancy for men in Russia is 67 years. Taking baths supposedly has a rejuvenating effect and improves male potency. As part of the procedure, horns are cut from live animals once a year.

Meduza reported that Putin's entourage is obsessed with life extension, citing sources close to the Kremlin. According to the publication, last year an official from the president's entourage instructed Russian scientists to develop anti-aging drugs.

Meduza's sources said the Health Ministry demanded that research institutes report as soon as possible on work to combat cognitive and sensory disorders, cellular aging and osteoporosis, and to strengthen the immune system. "We were asked to send all our developments urgently, and the letter came, let's say, today, but everything had to be sent yesterday," one of the researchers recounted. Mikhail Kovalchuk, one of Putin's close friends, is involved in the research. He also oversees a state-funded genetics research program involving Putin's eldest daughter, endocrinologist Maria Vorontsova.
