The count is in the thousands.
About 2,000 North Korean military personnel have died in the war in Ukraine. Pyongyang may send additional forces to the front, Yonhap reported, citing South Korean intelligence.
According to intelligence reports, North Korea also plans to send about 6,000 additional soldiers to Russia as part of the third batch of troop deployments.
North Korea is known to have sent about 13,000 troops and weapons to support Russia's military efforts against Ukraine since last October.
North Korea (DPRK) has become an active supporter of Russia in the war against Ukraine, providing material, military and diplomatic support. In total, it is estimated that the DPRK sent more than ten thousand soldiers to Russia, who fought on its side in the Kursk region. Some of them suffered serious losses.
