Political Prisoner Nikita Emelyanov Risks Losing His Eyesight

25-year-old political prisoner Nikita Emelyanov, sentenced to 6 years in a penal colony, draws to lose his eyesight in detention, writes "Viasna".
"In prison cells Nikita began to lose his eyesight. For the last two years he has been denied medical parcels: no vitamins, no necessary medicines," human rights activists write.
Nikita Emelyanov was detained in the fall of 2019. In 2020, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison under articles on "willful damage to property" (Article 218 of the Criminal Code), "desecration of buildings" (Article 341 of the Criminal Code), and "illegal actions with regard to weapons and explosives" (Article 295 of the Criminal Code). Later, the appeals court reduced the term to 4 years.
In custody he was twice transferred to prison regime, in addition, the court added two years of imprisonment under the article "on malicious disobedience of the colony administration" (Article 411 of the CC).
