Paris confirms the statement of the widow of the Russian opposition activist.
France announced that it has familiarized itself with the findings of two Western laboratories that the death of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny may have been caused by poisoning. This is the first time that an official Western source has confirmed the existence and content of these conclusions, which were publicly reported the day before by the politician's widow Yulia Navalny.
"France has read with deep concern the conclusions of two Western laboratories according to which Alexei Navalny could have been poisoned.
France recalls that it places all the blame for Alexei Navalny's death on the Russian authorities and continues to call for a comprehensive investigation into the conditions of his tragic death," the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The day before, the "Anti-Corruption Foundation" released a video in which Yulia Navalnaya said that in February 2024 supporters managed to smuggle Navalny's biological samples abroad, which were transferred to Western laboratories. A few months later, independent specialists in two countries independently concluded that Navalny had been poisoned.
