US Ready To Transfer Javelin Launchers And Missiles To Poland For 780 Million Dollars

The U.S. State Department has approved a possible foreign military sale to the Polish government of Javelin missile systems totaling about $780 million.

It is noted that the Polish government has requested to purchase 2,506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles and 253 Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units.
The package will also include the following support equipment and services:
training simulated missiles;
battery cooling units;
tool kits;
spare parts;
training and technical assistance from the U.S. government and contractors;
transportation and other logistics and program support elements.
The total estimated value of the assistance is $780 million.
"The proposed sale will contribute to U.S. foreign policy and national security by enhancing the security of a NATO ally that plays an important role in ensuring political and economic stability in Europe," the statement said.
The Pentagon also noted that the sale of the specified equipment will improve Poland's ability to counter current and future threats by modernizing its existing aging launchers and increasing its defense arsenal.
"This will strengthen the ability to defend su Poland will have no difficulty integrating these products and services into its own Armed Forces," DSCA added.
The prime contractors will be RTX Corporation and Lockheed Martin.
The agency specified that the proposed sale of this equipment and support will not change the basic military balance in the region.
"The implementation of this possible contract will not require additional U.S. government representatives or contractors to be sent to Poland. This sale will not adversely affect U.S. defense readiness levels," the Pentagon added.
