Chaly: Lukashenko's System Is Breathing Down The Drain

  • 18.09.2025, 12:22

The situation is like the last years of the USSR.

Analyst Sergei Chaly in the air of "Euroradio" assessed the situation in the Belarusian economy:

- The period that we are now witnessing is similar to the last years of the Russian Empire, the last years of the Soviet Union. The most important factor, by which one can judge that the system is breathing down the neck, is when the main stakeholders of the system spit on the future and start doing their own things," says Sergei Chaly.

- The system was not based on Lukashenko's genius, but on the enthusiasm of people. Take the same Kallaur (former chairman of the National Bank - ed.). - There were people who were doing things. Now they have realized that there is no point in saving the economy anymore.

Lukashenko always demanded from officials an equilibrium exchange rate, but without devaluation, a private economy, but without privatization, fair prices, but not so that they are set by the market. It takes a lot of effort. So people decided to just watch him and listen to what he will say this time. You can see that Lukashenko is freaking out because he doesn't understand what to do.
