Keith Kellogg: Russia Is Not What It Once Was

Moscow is losing the war.
Russia is not winning the war against Ukraine, U.S. presidential special envoy Keith Kellogg said during a visit to Kiev, The Moscow Times reports.
"If Putin was winning, he would be in Odessa. If he were winning, he would be west of the Dnieper. If he was winning, he would have changed the government. Russia is actually losing this war," said Kellogg.
He also called the advance of Russian troops in Donbass pointless. "If you consider the advancement as moving meters rather than miles, then yes, it is a success. But the price they are paying is enormous," Kellogg explained.
He also revealed that he discussed the state of the Russian army at the White House not too long ago. "I apologize to the ladies here, but the conversation turned to the alleged strength of the Russian army. Some people said it was pretty strong. And that's when I said to everybody in the room, We would kick their ass. And what I meant was, don't take their claims at face value. They're not at all as strong as Putin says they are," Kellogg said.
He said the war in Ukraine has evolved from a standoff between tanks and artillery to a battle of drones that dominate the battlefield and has changed the economics of war. "Russia is no longer what it once was. The Europeans are getting stronger now, and if I were Putin, I would stop reminding them of their nuclear weapons because Britain, France, not to mention the United States, also have them," Kellogg noted.
Kellogg's family has a long history of helping Ukraine. His daughter Megan Mobbs's RT Weatherman Foundation has been involved in humanitarian aid shipments throughout the conflict. Her work includes setting up and managing a logistics hub on the Romania-Ukraine border. She assists with the delivery of medicine and other aid to more than 70 organizations and hospitals.
