Latvia Is Ready To Immediately Close The Border With Belarus

This was stated by the National Security Commission of the Seimas.

Latvian responsible services are ready for the "immediate closure" of the border with Belarus, but there's no need for it, reports the press service of the Saeima.

The Saeima National Security Committee on September 15 considered a draft decision on the full closure of the border with Belarus and Russia for the period of military exercises "West-2025," and decided not to send the document to the Saeima for further consideration. The deputies concluded that, "given the current level of military threat," there was "no need for an immediate full closure of the border at the moment."

The Seimas press service noted that the security situation on the eastern border of the country was one of the priorities and the Commission "will continue to closely monitor developments.
