The head of the National Bank revealed the details.
According to the head of the National Bank Roman Holovchenko, the country's main financial institution has commissioned a study from the Academy of Sciences. On its basis, changes may be made to the instructions for accepting dollars.
"The question that often occurs is related to the detection of any formations (mold, fungi and so on) in the ultraviolet spectrum. But I somehow decided to take up this question, to bring it to the end. We ordered a scientific study at the Academy of Sciences: what is still glowing there? And now we have received the report, analyzed the impact of trace elements or biological structures on the safety of the banknotes themselves," Golovchenko told state media and added that the presence of elements that are visible only in the ultraviolet spectrum will not be a limitation for accepting such bills.
The ex-head of the government said that "recently took inventory of his piggy bank."
"There is even some amount, I found old dollars, I do not know from what times - somewhere travel expenses, probably, I gave them away. I feel at ease, I don't run anywhere with them and they don't pinch my pocket. So I can only repeat what I've already said once again: there are no restrictions on accepting American dollars, old or new, so-called blue or white," he added.
We recall that recently Lukashenko criticized the Belarusian banks, which refuse to take some dollars.
"Let's agree, from January 1, 2026, the presence of such facts will automatically entail disciplinary responsibility of the bank manager," he said. "We can't offend people with some far-fetched issues.
