Some Categories Of Belarusians Will Have To Pay More Taxes

Tax changes may be introduced in Belarus. It's not only about their annual indexation, but also about innovations for some fees. These issues were discussed on September 12 by the expert council at the "Council of the Republic," writes "Zerkalo".

This council considered the main documents on the socio-economic policy of Belarus for 2026, said chairman of the standing commission of the "council of the republic" on economy, budget and finance Vladislav Tatarinovich.

"First, it is planned to index the rates, which were set in Belarusian rubles. In particular, the issue of excise taxes on non-tobacco smoking mixtures and liquids for electronic means of smoking is being discussed. Compared to classic tobacco products, the rates are lower, but given the potential for harm, the expert council recommended the developers to reconsider the possibility of increasing excise taxes on these products," said Vladislav Tatarinovich.

But this is not the end of possible tax innovations.

"Secondly, as part of improving the fairness of taxation, measures will be proposed regarding income tax for citizens with additional income, there are many such persons," added Vladimir Tatarinovich. - We are also considering changes related to property tax for citizens who own apartments or houses, which are considered significant for Belarus by average standards. All these proposals have been discussed, agreed upon and will be justified in draft laws."

It was previously reported that Belarus wants to raise some taxes for the population - for the "wealthy." This may affect their income and property.
