The goal is to increase containment on the Alliance's eastern flank.

NATO is preparing defensive military measures in response to the incursion of Russian drones into Poland. The aim is to strengthen deterrence on the Alliance's eastern flank.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

The source said the military response will be coordinated by NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grinkiewicz, who is responsible for planning and conducting all military operations of the Alliance.

The source said the command is now assessing the situation and determining what supplies, if any, are needed.

"Looking ahead, we have a lot more to do. Countries are already making improvements in weaponry to reduce the cost of warfare and we will continue to work on this together with all Alliance countries," Hrynkiewicz said on Thursday.

He also said NATO would learn lessons and now "we are learning about things" that need to be improved to counter "limited incursions."

Besides a "military response," the publication's interlocutor said there would also be a political response. The first such response was already given on Wednesday, when NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other allied leaders condemned Russia's "reckless behavior."

In addition, the source said that although the number of drones that violated Polish airspace was unprecedented, and it forced NATO planes to shoot them down right in the Alliance's airspace, but it is difficult to establish the intention.

We will recall that on the night of September 10, Russia attacked Ukraine en masse, using drones and missiles of various types. At the same time, about 20 Russian drones invaded the territory of Poland.
