"Belsat": Gennady Fedynich Has Been Set Free

The leader of the trade union movement in Belarus was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Trade union leader Gennady Fedynich is among the 52 political prisoners released on September 11, according to the website of the TV channel "Belsat".

In 2023, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison under the articles on calls for actions against national security (Article 361 of the Criminal Code), creation of "extremist formation" (Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code) and incitement of hostility (Article 130 of the Criminal Code).

Gennadi Fedynich is the former head of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Radioelectronic Industry (REP), one of the leaders of the labor movement in Belarus.
