NATO Triggers Article 4 Of The Charter Due To Russian Attack On Poland

The Alliance will defend every inch of its territory.
Polish government spokesman Adam Szlapka told Polsat News that NATO has invoked Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. It allows for urgent consultations between NATO member states.
"At Poland's request, consultations were held under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty," Adam Szlapka said.
The fact that Poland has submitted a formal request to invoke Article 4 was previously reported by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He emphasized, however, that it was a joint recommendation of the government and President Navrotsky.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reacted to Russia's drone attack against an Alliance member country:
"My message to Putin is clear. Stop the war in Ukraine. Stop violating allied airspace. And know that we are ready, that we are vigilant and that we will defend every inch of NATO territory."
What is NATO Article 4?"
NATO Article 4 applies in situations that do not necessarily involve only an armed attack on an Alliance country, but are events that would be recognized as a serious threat.
A request to invoke NATO Article 4 is submitted to the NATO Secretary General. The issue is then referred to the North Atlantic Council, where representatives of all member states discuss the situation and make decisions.
As reported by Charter97.org, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that for the first time drones that violated Polish airspace came not from Ukraine, but directly from Belarus.
Reportedly, 19 UAVs flew into the country.
