But there is an exception.
The Belarusian Embassy in Warsaw now accepts citizens who want to get a certificate of return by appointment. The exception - Belarusians who are in Poland on a short-term visit and for some reason lost their passport or it is unusable.
"Citizens who lost their passport (passport is unusable) during a short-term trip abroad and want to return to Belarus as soon as possible, are accepted at the embassy during office hours without an appointment in the order of priority. Citizens temporarily or permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland and having grounds for stay in the Republic of Poland (karta pobytu or dowód osobisty), as well as citizens traveling to Belarus with a child who does not have a passport of the Republic of Belarus and was born in the territory of the Republic of Poland, are accepted only by appointment," such an announcement appeared in the embassy. The return certificate is issued for up to six months and gives the right to cross the Polish-Belarusian border once without a national passport.
Since it is a photo ID document, it is also accepted by Polish state authorities, for example, when issuing documents to a child born in Poland who has never had a national passport.
Therefore, many people take a certificate of return to legalize their stay in Poland.
