How Ukraine Thwarted The Strike Of 16 Kalibers

Ukrainian intelligence is launching a preemptive strike.

During the massive missile-drone strike on Ukraine on August 28, the Russian occupants were unable to fully use their sea platforms to launch 3M14 Kalibr missiles due to the opposition of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU).

A Ukrainian military and political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexandr Kovalenko told Telegraf UA. He explained what exactly happened.

The military expert recalled that during the combined strike on August 28, the Russians used Shaked-136 kamikaze drones and decoy drones, Kh-101 aircraft missiles and 9M723 and Kh47M2 Kinzhal ballistic missiles. However, there was a significant difference: during the August 21 missile raid, the enemy used 3M14 Kalibr missiles.

- The Kalibras were not launched this time, but two carriers with a total of eight launchers each went to sea and the total salvo could have amounted to 16 missiles," the analyst said.

He explained why the Russians did not go for another act of terror using cruise missiles from the sea, although everything was ready for it.

- The Defense Ministry's GSD got ahead of the enemy and launched a preemptive strike. And the most important thing is that it was done by an airborne strike drone. Marine drones used to perform these tasks, but they are slower than airborne drones. And in some cases the crews of Russian ships even had the opportunity to disarm them at a safe distance from the ship," says the military and political observer.

In his opinion, most likely, the marine drone acted as a platform, and the main strike task was performed by air drones that made a targeted strike. Alexander Kovalenko noted that this is the first such operation using aerial drones against a Kalibr carrier, with a defeat just before launch.
