A Man In An SUV Rammed The Gates Of The Russian Consulate General In Sydney

On the morning of September 1, an unidentified man in an SUV kicked down the gates of the Russian consulate general in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the 9News television channel reported, the The Moscow Times website noted.
According to him, police had been called to the consulate general shortly before. The reason was that the SUV was parked in the driveway without a permit. When police officers arrived on the scene and tried to talk to the driver, the man rammed the gates of the Consulate General and drove into the inner territory of the diplomatic mission. One of the constables was injured - he received an arm injury.
The driver of the car was detained. He is 39 years old and is giving evidence. Details about his identity and motives are not available. It is noted that police have launched an investigation into the incident. The footage shown to 9News shows a white SUV near the Russian flag. All the doors of the car are open, the glass in the front doors is broken. An eyewitness to the incident told The Daily Telegraph that a police officer pulled out a gun and asked the driver to get out of the car, but the vehicle continued to move towards the consulate. According to News.com.au, police cordoned off an approximately 100-meter area around the diplomatic mission after the incident.
